H.E.S. Beheer N.V., Rotterdam, and ArcelorMittal have commenced talks on the acquisition by HES Beheer of ArcelorMittal's 78% holding in logistics services company ATIC Services S.A, in which HES Beheer currently has a 22% interest. Negotiations are ongoing, but no binding agreement has been reached.
The acquisition will not include all assets within ATIC group.
ATIC's principal activities are transhipment at ports and inland shipping.
The acquisition now under consideration would fit well with HES Beheer's policy of expanding its dry and liquid bulk
operations. HES Beheer will also seek to expand international coverage of its operations.
