Company Recognized for its Gleaners Food Bank Partnership, Employee Volunteer Efforts

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 2, 2013) - Global digital marketing leader ExactTarget, a salesforce.com company, announced today that its employee volunteer efforts and philanthropic partnerships have earned the company the title of Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation from the Indiana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Nominated by Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, ExactTarget earned the recognition for its philanthropy efforts, including employee-led service projects, board membership service and corporate-lead community efforts such as Indy Do Day.

"ExactTarget employees are passionate about making a meaningful impact in their community," said Karen Jung, executive director of the ExactTarget Foundation. "Giving back to our communities is a core part of our company culture and being named Indiana's top philanthropic corporation is a great honor that reflects our employee's commitment to improve our community to make it a better place to live."

The honor comes five months after the ExactTarget Foundation awarded Gleaners Food Bank a $70,000 grant to help fund the purchase of a mobile food pantry.  The second in the Gleaners' fleet, the pantry will help Gleaners provide hundreds of thousands of meals to hungry families throughout its 21-county service area in central and southeastern Indiana.

"We are thankful for ExactTarget and its commitment to help reduce hunger in our communities," said Cindy Hubert, president and chief executive officer of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. "Their support extends beyond the Mobile Pantry.  ExactTarget employees routinely volunteer their time in our facilities and their technology has been instrumental in our marketing efforts."

In addition to its work with Gleaners, the company and its foundation have been involved in multiple initiatives during the past year including:

  • Awarded grants to seven Indiana nonprofit organizations, supporting initiatives ranging from funding a new food pantry to providing weekend meals for preschoolers.
  • More than 100 employees built three homes for Habitat for Humanity
  • Made a $50,000 donation to the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School in Indianapolis to help fund a number of new academic and athletics programs.
