NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Emdeon Inc., a leading provider of revenue and payment cycle management and clinical information exchange solutions, today announced a clinical services agreement with Informatics Corporation of America (ICA) to help empower physician orders and results as well as EHR capabilities.

ICA was established to take innovative technology developed by Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, to the broader healthcare market and now delivers a comprehensive HIE solution to hospitals, IDNs, communities and states. ICA's CareAlign® solution suite features provider/patient portals, secure clinical communication, NHIN compliant interoperability and population management tools. CareAlign will now be augmented by Emdeon Clinician™, a software-as-a-service solution that simplifies lab order entry and results distribution, facilitates electronic prescribing and is ONC ATCB Certified to meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use*. In addition, CareAlign users will be connected to the Emdeon clinical, financial and administrative health information network that includes connectivity to over 300 laboratories and 60,000 pharmacies nationwide.

"Developing a computerized physician order entry (CPOE) solution is an extremely costly and resource intensive endeavor," said Miriam Paramore, senior vice president of clinical services for Emdeon. "By using Emdeon Clinician, clients like ICA can connect to the Emdeon clinical, financial and administrative health information network, eliminate the need for point-to-point interfaces and focus on their core value propositions of interoperability and care management tools."

The Emdeon services will be demonstrated in the ICA booth number 4831 during the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) national conference in Las Vegas, February 21-23, 2012.

Emdeon In-booth Speaking Events

In addition to demonstrating the Emdeon/ICA clinical capabilities, Emdeon will also present short, impactful educational sessions featuring Emdeon and industry partner subject matter experts on clinical information exchange, gaps in care, patient-centric healthcare and data and analytics. All educational presentations will take place at booth number 3616 in Emdeon's in-booth theater.
