DMG INFORMATION Hobsons

Hobsons has announced a minority investment in Indian digital educational publisher approve. Stephen Stout, CEO of dmg information Asia Pacific, who is joining the iProf board, describes it as "a very significant first step for dmg information and Hobsons in India and the Asian region." Wholly-owned by DMGT through dmg information, Hobsons will strengthen its position as a global provider of student support and college and career readiness services with the investment. It also marks Hobsons' entrance into the Indian marketplace.

Emily Kissane, Policy Analyst at Hobsons, says that educational institutions in the USA are under political pressure to restrain growth in tuition charges and find new models for funding their activities. Kissane notes that the rises in costs over the past few years have meant that "many students and families had difficulty in planning for those increases." The bill for college is typically the second-largest cost faced by families after buying a home, though buyers of homes are able to see future costs clearly, which is not the case in education.
