In its Trading Update released today, DMGT announced a resilient performance with underlying revenue in line with last year. Its B2B businesses saw underlying revenue growth of 1% whilst its consumer business, dmg media, saw an underlying revenue decline of 1%, a good performance despite challenging market conditions. The Full Year revenue and profit outlook remains unchanged, other than dmg information's underlying revenue growth rate is now expected to be in the mid-single digits.

A report by the Brattle Group based on data provided by RMS is revealing that coastal cities, particularly in the Gulf states of the USA, would see significant insurance rate increases if legislation taxing foreign reinsurance holdings is passed. The study, sponsored by several offshore insurers opposed to the tax, ran the RMS data on selected contributions from a number of American states to the total risk that the USA faces from homeowner and commercial coverage.

Mary Dhonau OBE, Chief Executive of the Know Your Flood Risk campaign, which is supported by Landmark Information, is urging the Government to 'toughen up on building regulations' so that flood resilient measures are automatically included in all new-build properties that are deemed to be within a flood risk zone. Having reviewed data analysis from Landmark Information, Mary Dhonau comments: 'It is clear that there are hundreds of planning applications submitted each year that fall into designated flood risk zones, and these stats don't even take into account groundwater or surface water risks.'

Following President Trump's invitation to TransCanada to resubmit its application to build and operate the Keystone XL pipeline, designed to transport up to 830,000 barrels of crude a day, Mike Walls, crude oil analyst at Genscape, has commented: 'You're going to see a lot more barrels going down from Canada to Cushing via XL, where now much of that is routed from Canada to Chicago and then down to Cushing and the Gulf Coast.'
