Colas Ltd, a subsidiary of Colas in the United Kingdom, has been awarded an 8-year Maintenance and Response contract by National Highways for Area 9, with a total contract value of around €400 million.

The Area 9 contract covers the motorway and trunk road network within central England (Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire), for a total lane length of around 3,760 km. The region includes five strategically critical motorway interchange junctions and is at the heart of the new HS2 high-speed rail network.

Colas Ltd will deliver cyclical maintenance, reactive maintenance, incident response, severe weather response, and minor works. The contract begins on July 1, 2022.

With its long-established base in the Midlands, Colas Ltd brings strong local knowledge, supported by the global expertise of the Colas Group. As part of the contract, the company has committed to implementing a clear carbon reduction plan to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of operations from day one. Colas Ltd also has a well-established track record of Social Value plans that are aligned to local strategic requirements.
