(NASDAQ: APLX), a publicly held company based in Westborough, Massachusetts and an industry leader in analytics, today jointly announced that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice have granted early termination of the mandatory waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act (HSR) in connection with the cash tender offer by Cognos for all of the outstanding common stock of Applix, Inc. at a price of $17.87 per share. The transaction remains subject to the receipt of other regulatory approvals, a minimum tender of at least a majority of the Applix shares then outstanding on a fully diluted basis, and other customary closing conditions.
