China Machinery Engineering : CNEEC El Paso Hydropower Plant Project Completed

On January 11, the completion ceremony of the Chilean El Paso3×20MW hydropower plant project undertaken by China National Electric Engineering Corporation (CNEEC) was held at the site of the project. Chilean Energy Minister Maximo Pacheco, Chinese Economic & Commercial Counselor to Chile Liu Rutao, CNEEC Vice President Zheng Chengjun and representatives of the project team were invited to participate in the ceremony.

At the ceremony, the project owner spoke highly of the design, electromechanical equipments and technical services provided by CNEEC. The project has enhanced Chile's capabilities of independent power supply, ensured safe utilization of electric power and laid a solid foundation for the country to attract more investments. Liu, on behalf of the Chinese side, made a speech at the ceremony, speaking highly of the friendly ties between China and Chile and all-around practical cooperation between the two countries. He said that the Chinese side will continue to strengthen policy-related communications with the Chilean side, so as to realize strategic coordination, make achievements as soon as possible and usher in a new stage of friendly cooperation between the two countries; he stressed that China boasts a global network of technologies, equipments and materials that has been fully recognized in the market, and expressed the hope that more outstanding companies like CNEEC can take part in the economic development of Chile.

The project is another great achievement made by CNEEC following the successful completion of the SA hydropower project in 2013. As a key to the hydropower market of Chile, the success of the project laid a solid foundation for CNEEC and other Chinese-funded companies to develop more hydropower projects in the country.
