Two Cardno specialists, Cassy Baxter and Brooke Henderson, were a part of a panel of judges at the University of Wollongong's 2017 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Camp for Girls on January 15 - 18 in Wollongong, New South Wales.

Cardno's Cassy Baxter, Environmental Scientist, and Brooke Henderson, Civil Designer, served as judges at the Camp during an activity as well as speaking about their STEM careers and their work experience at Cardno. They provided an overview of how each progressed their interest in the STEM field to their careers today and the future career options available upon graduation to the young women.

Cardno proudly sponsored the University of Wollongong's 2017 STEM Camp for Girls to encourage young women eager for learning to explore careers in the STEM fields of study. The Camp also included an opportunity for the parents and students to learn more about Cardno programs like work experience, vocational work and graduate programs that Cardno offers to encourage women to pursue careers in science, technology and engineering.

The University of Wollongong's 2017 STEM Camp for Girls hosted a total of 55 young women between the ages of 15 and 18 from across the state of New South Wales that participated in hands-on activities that will inspire them to be the next generation of STEM leaders. Some of the activities aimed to help girls develop their own curiosity about process and design included coding, cryptology, sustainability, renewable energy, artificial muscles, robots as well as 3d printing. The University of Wollongong hopes this outreach program will ultimately inspire these young women to be the next generation of STEM leaders.
