Trade Union Cooperative Insurance Company reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported net profit before zakat of SAR 10,253,429 compared to net loss before zakat of SAR 590,716 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 124,268,473 compared to SAR 132,682,903 a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment were SAR 2,225,651 compared to net loss shareholders capital investment of SAR 1,082,907 a year ago. The profit increase is due to the increase in net earned premiums especially for medical insurance and the decrease in net incurred claims in addition to the better performance of policyholders funds investment portfolio and realizing profits from the shareholders investment portfolio. For the year, the company reported net profit before zakat of SAR 44,962,814 compared to SAR 25,739,955 a year ago. Net written premiums were SAR 758,458,385 compared to SAR 667,630,053 a year ago. Net profit of shareholders capital investment were SAR 803,209 compared to SAR 1,020,196 a year ago. Earnings per share were SAR 1.64 compared to SAR 0.94 a year ago. The profit increase is mainly due to the increase in net earned premiums and the better performance of policyholders funds investment portfolio.
