On Wednesday, Air Liquide and Siemens officially inaugurated their new plant in Berlin, designed to produce large-scale renewable hydrogen electrolyzers.

This production start-up - which represents an investment of some 30 million euros - should precede a ramp-up in the coming years, with a target annual capacity of three gigawatts by 2025.

As an indication, a three-gigawatt capacity is supposed to enable the annual production of 300,000 metric tons of green hydrogen, equivalent to the theoretical consumption of a large city like Aachen in Germany (260,000 inhabitants).000 metric tons of green hydrogen per year, equivalent to the theoretical consumption of a large city like Aachen in Germany (population 260,000).

One of the first projects involved is the Air Liquide Normand'Hy electrolyzer, which will have a capacity of 200 megawatts in a first phase, with assembly planned in France.

The inauguration took place in the presence of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Siemens Energy CEO Christian Bruch and Air Liquide CEO Francois Jackow.
