Sharing the 2013/14 US Corn Quality Report's Findings Overseas Details Published on Wednesday, 30 November -0001 00:00

The U.S. Grains Council recently released its 2013/2014 U.S. Corn Harvest Quality Report, which is intended to provide reliable, timely and transparent information on the quality of U.S. corn at harvest. This is the third year the Council has generated this report and the results are highly anticipated by overseas customers. The Council has begun conveying the report's findings of record production, high quality and minor weather-related impacts, to overseas audiences, starting in Taiwan and Korea.

"Taiwanese buyers and end-users appreciate the Council's effort to conduct the corn quality report and to report the results of this survey to them," said USGC Director in Taiwan Clover Chang.

Funded by the Iowa Corn Growers Association, a group of four farmers were escorted this week to Taiwan and Korea by USGC Manager of Global Trade Alvaro Cordero. In Taiwan, the group presented to about 80 traders, feed millers, major hog/poultry producers and government officials about the corn quality report and their experiences growing and harvesting that corn crop.

"One of the main questions asked was how is the United States able to grow such high quality corn?" Chang said.

"I cannot over emphasize the importance of groups like the Iowa Corn traveling to Taiwan to discuss the U.S. corn crop," Chang said. "Programs like these enhance the local industry's confidence in U.S. corn quality and demonstrate the Council's commit to provide reliable and timely market information."

The group will also take the U.S. Corn Harvest Quality Report's messages to Korea.

"The U.S. corn farmers will provide valuable insights about the report to Korea's major importers, end-users, traders and trade association officials," said USGC Director in Korea Byong Ryol Min. "The group will also provide a 2013/2014 U.S. corn supply and demand outlook."
