Sunshine Coast Regional Council : Opportunity knocks for local business

Would you like to find out about upcoming contracts and procurement opportunities with Sunshine Coast Council?

Council will hold a free information forum to enable local suppliers to find out about Capital Works and Services contracts available for the remainder of this financial year on Tuesday, February 14 from 9am to 11am at Lake Kawana Community Centre.

Economic Development Portfolio Councillor Stephen Robinson said the event would also be an opportunity for businesses to gain a greater understanding of council's procurement and operational processes and policies as well as speak with council officers from across the organisation via a number of trade show-style booths.

'People who attend this suppliers briefing on February 14 will hear presentations from a wide range of branches within council, including procurement, communication, health and safety, property management, project delivery and economic development,' Cr Robinson said.

The aim of this event is to make it easier for businesses within the Sunshine Coast region to work with council to improve their chances of earning work through our procurement process and helping to keep jobs local and build our local economy.'

ENZED Sunshine Coast owner Andrew Fraser said attending a recent suppliers forum relating to work opportunities at the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Valdora Solar Farm had been a highly valuable experience.

'We're a provider of anything to do with construction or maintenance services so if there's any major projects going on we like to know who is in charge of it, who is running it and who might be working on it because they're our potential customers. So to come to an event like this gave us that kind of information,' Mr Fraser said.

'It can be quite difficult to dive in and find out who you actually need to speak to. This forum puts you in touch with all the right people.'
