A grant of £22,500 has been awarded to Pendle to tackle the problem of rogue landlords

The Government said that Pendle's bid 'demonstrates value for money' in tackling rogue landlords.

We've proved that we can make a difference in improving housing for private tenants by targeting those landlords who don't keep their properties up to standard.

That's why the Government has not only said yes to our bid for funds, but has given us an extra £2,500!

We work closely with private landlords and most of them are doing a good job.

This funding is very welcome and will be to take a tough line with those landlords who are neglecting their properties.

The money will also help tackle problems in houses managed by poor landlords that are shared by several tenants.

Our aim is to boost living conditions for tenants and make improvements in neighbourhoods where there are run down rented properties.

Thanks to this funding we'll be able to carry out far more inspections.

We will enforce action, prohibit the use of unfit buildings for tenants and we'll prosecute any landlords who don't provide safe and healthy homes for their tenants.

In the last twelve months we took 88 actions against private landlords.

Pendle has 7,000 rented properties owned by private landlords and whilst there are many good landlords there are some rogue landlords who are letting their tenants down.
