Parliament, Tuesday, 30 January 2018 - The Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources will tomorrow (31 January 2018) visit the mining precinct of the Council for Science and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the University of the Witwatersrand Mining Institute, as part of its week-long oversight visit to Gauteng. It will be briefed on the precinct's potential to underpin Mining Phakisa projects.

The function of the precinct is to coordinate research activities towards the revitalisation of South Africa's mining operations through the development of next-generation mechanised mining systems.
