Baton Rouge - Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

Gov. Edwards announced appointments to the following boards and commissions:

Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board
The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board was created to promote the growth and development of the soybean, wheat, corn, and grain sorghum industries in Louisiana. Assessments collected on these grains at the first point of sale by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry are remitted to the Board to conduct programs of research and promotion. The Board also participates in federal check off programs for soybeans and grain sorghum.

Thomas A. Ater, of Vidalia, was reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Mr. Ater is a farmer and a managing general partner with Lakeland Planting Co. As required by statute, he was nominated by Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation to serve as a representative of soybean producers.

Matthew G. 'Garrett' Marsh, of Tallulah, was appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Mr. Marsh is a farmer and partner with Blessed Day Farms. As required by statute, he was nominated by Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation to serve as a representative of soybean producers.

Jules K. 'J.K.' Bordelon, of Moreauville, was reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Mr. Bordelon is a farmer and owner/operator of JK Bordelon Farm. As required by statute, he was nominated by Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation to serve as a representative of wheat, corn, or grain sorghum producers.

Charles D. 'Damian' Glaser, of Ventress, was appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Mr. Glaser is a farmer and owner/manager of Damian Glaser Farms, LLC. As required by statute, he was nominated by Louisiana Soybean Association to serve as a representative of soybean producers.

Dustin K. Morris, of Rayville, was appointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Mr. Morris is a farmer and the owner of Double M Farms. As required by statute, he was nominated by Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation to serve as a representative of wheat, corn, or grain sorghum producers.

Darrell J. Vandeven, of St. Joseph, was reappointed to the Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board. Mr. Vandeven is a farmer and the owner of Vandeven Farms. As required by statute, he was nominated by Louisiana Soybean Association to serve as a representative of soybean producers.

Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority
The Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority has the power to provide financial assistance to the Louisiana agricultural community. It has financed, constructed, and owns most of the office buildings and supporting facilities utilized by the Department of Agriculture.

Kent E. Brown, of Jennings, was appointed to the Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority. Mr. Brown is a self-employed farmer. He was nominated by Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, as required by statute.

Louisiana Medical Disclosure Panel
The Louisiana Medical Disclosure Panel was created to determine which risks and hazards related to medical care and surgical procedures must be disclosed by a physician or other health care provider to a patient or person authorized to consent for a patient and to establish the general form and substance of such disclosure.

Nelson P. Daly, D.D.S., of Baton Rouge, was reappointed to the Louisiana Medical Disclosure Panel. Dr. Daly is a dentist in private practice. As required by statute, he was nominated by the Louisiana Dental Association.

Louisiana Gaming Control Board
The Louisiana Gaming Control Board has all regulatory authority, control, and jurisdiction, including investigation, licensing, and enforcement, and all power incidental or necessary to such regulatory authority, control, and jurisdiction over all aspects of gaming activities and operations within the state.

Richard E. Patrick, of Bastrop, was appointed to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. Mr. Patrick is the president and chief executive officer of RMS Consulting, LLC, and has extensive experience in law enforcement with the Louisiana State Police. He will serve as a representative of the 5 Congressional District and as a member with expertise in investigation and law enforcement.
