Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Vincenzo Amendola, received today the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ivan Brajovic. The Italian Ambassador to Montenegro, Vincenzo Del Monaco, and the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Western Balkan Process Summit, Michele Giacomelli, participated in the meeting.

The talks, which took place the day after the Chamber of Deputies gave the final approval to the bill ratifying the Accession Protocol of Montenegro to NATO, focused on the excellent state of bilateral relations. Within this context, the talks focused on the importance of a positive conclusion of Montenegro's Euro-Atlantic approach, for the benefit of stability and security in the country and in the entire Balkan region. Undersecretary Amendola guaranteed that Italy will continue to support the European integration process of Podgorica.

'Relaunching and fostering the European integration process of the Balkan countries are among the objectives on the agenda of the Italian Presidency of the Western Balkan Process,' said Undersecretary Amendola.
