Jakarta, 07/01/2016 MoF- During 2015, the Customs Office of Banjarmasin managed to confiscate 16,854,847 illegal cigarettes of various brands. This has inflicted a financial loss of more than IDR7 billion on the state.

The action was happened during the routine operation ahead new year; 31 December 2015. The operation was aimed at anticipating the increase of illegal goods usage during the new year celebration.

According to the Directorate General of Customs and Excise official statement, the officers had confiscated the evidences-illegal cigarettes of various brands-as many as 112 cartons or 1,136,000 rods. The action which saved IDR1,175 billion of state loss, was a result of information development during the routine operation.

In addition, some of imports goods and postal items; medicine, air soft guns, and sex toys which were harmful for the society had also been secured by the customs office of Banjarmasin. (nv)
