Point72 Asset Management, L.P. (Point72), has named Mike Butler as head of Human Capital for the Firm. Point72 President Doug Haynes announced today.

In his new role, Mr. Butler, of Ridgefield, CT, will be responsible for Point72’s Human Resources function, the team responsible for vetting new hires, and its Community Matters and Life Learning Events programs. In addition, Mr. Butler will be the Firm’s liaison to the Point72 Advisory Board when it convenes. He assumes these new responsibilities immediately.

“Mike has played a critical role in Point72’s renewal and transformation,” Mr. Haynes said. “He did a superb job overseeing the transition to our new Sector Executive model, spearheaded the Firm’s hiring of key senior executive talent and led the Firm’s Employee Survey. Point72 is a stronger place today because of his excellent work.

“Mike’s new role allows the Firm to take better advantage of the breadth and scope of his human capital experience,” Mr. Haynes said.

Mr. Butler joined Point72 last fall and served as Implementation Leader for organizational changes announced in October. He joined the Firm from Ensign-Bickford Industries, where he ran Human Resources, after holding progressively senior roles as an attorney, management consultant, and corporate executive.

Before Point72, Mr. Butler held HR leadership roles at companies such as Toys “R” Us, Alpharma, and Cablevision, specializing in HR strategy, executive compensation, employee benefits, and talent management. While at Cablevision, Mr. Butler served on the Board of Directors of the Cable and Telecommunications Human Resources Association (CTHRA). Before serving as an HR executive, Mr. Butler was a Partner at Hewitt Associates (now Aon/Hewitt). He began his career practicing corporate, healthcare, and employment law.

Mr. Butler earned his BA from Georgetown University, and his JD from Catholic University of America, where he was a member of the Law Review and a founding editor of the Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. Mr. Butler has also been active in several organizations in his community, including serving on the Boards of the Ridgefield Playhouse, and the Ridgefield Community Center.
