Knife attack wounds six at major Paris station

The man's motives were not immediately clear, police said. The Paris prosecutor said in a statement that a criminal investigation had been opened.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said the officers who shot the attacker were off-duty, but were allowed carry their weapons. They shot three times, and were able to neutralize the suspect, Darmanin added.
