SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 21, 2015) - Green Visor Capital announces that Mr. Joseph W. Saunders, the former Chairman and CEO of Visa Inc., is now Chairman of Green Visor Capital.

Green Visor Capital announces that Mr. Joseph ("Joe") W. Saunders, the former Chairman and CEO of Visa Inc., is now Chairman of Green Visor Capital. Rich Marin, who previously served as Chairman of Green Visor, will continue as a General Partner and as a member the firm's Investment Committee.

Prior to joining Green Visor Capital as a General Partner in 2013, Joe was the Chairman and CEO of Visa Inc., the global technology and payments company. Joe assumed leadership of Visa in 2007 when the company was still privately held. Though much of Joe's tenure at Visa overlapped with the Global Financial Crisis, Visa successfully completed its initial public offering in 2008, which was then the largest in the history of the United States. The financial community praised the resilience of Visa's business model, diverse product set, and senior leadership's ongoing commitment to expense management. As a result, Joe is widely regarded as helping to establish Visa as one of the world's most recognized and valuable corporate brands. Visa's stock price responded in kind and increased by more than 250% under his leadership.

Throughout his career, Joe has held leadership positions within various top financial services companies. Before joining Visa, he served as Chairman, President, and CEO of Providian Financial Corporation, one of the leading credit card issuers in the U.S., and oversaw its post-recession turnaround in 2001 and 2002. He worked there until Washington Mutual's acquisition of the company in 2005 and stayed on until 2007 as President of Card Services. Before Providian, Joe was the Chairman and CEO of Fleet Credit Card Services at FleetBoston Financial Corporation from 1997-2001.

Joe said: "During the four plus decades of my career, I've seen quite a few changes in the Financial Services Industry. Over the last few years, however, the changes brought about by the adoption of new technologies has been dramatic and will only accelerate in the months ahead. The threat of disruption to traditional financial institutions from the startup and tech community is real. I'm delighted to be working with the Green Visor team to help the next generation of FinTech entrepreneurs reshape financial services. The Green Visor team is highly skilled and passionate, and working with them has been a blast."

Simon Yoo, Founder and Managing Partner of Green Visor Capital, said: "Joe hates it when we say this, but he is a true giant in the Financial Services Industry. It is because of his daily contributions that Green Visor is now recognized as one of the top emerging managers in venture capital. Joe is a fantastic partner and mentor to the founders of our portfolio companies and to the Green Visor team. The team is honored that Joe is willing to take on the added responsibility of being Green Visor's Chairman. I also want to thank Rich Marin for not only helping prepare the way for this next step in Green Visor's evolution, but also for his continuing contributions as a General Partner."
