MAURITANIA: THE ENTRANCE OF SAIPEM.

The Italian company SAIPEM has been awarded, in consortium with the French company Eiffage, the EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) contract for works on the marine infrastructure in the 'Tortue-Ahmeyim' LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) hub and terminal granted by the Mauritanian and Senegalese governments to British Petroleum, for an estimated value of 350 million euros.

According to the company, the project involves an area off the Mauritanian coast, on the maritime border with Senegal; in this area gas reserves have been estimated at around 450 billion cubic metres. The development plan for the field includes, in addition to the floating platform for production, storage and loading aimed at converting the gas produced into LNG, a hub plant and a pipeline with connections to the domestic gas network. As part of the project, SAIPEM will be responsible for the realization of the mooring installations for the floating structure, with its protection infrastructure. The works are scheduled to start in September 2020.
