China: Eni-Sinopec agree to build a refining plant with EST technology

Eni has announced the sale of a licence and a project to build a refining plant, using 'ENI Slurry Technology', to Chinese petrochemical company Sinopec. The plant, for the conversion of high quality product residue, will be built at the Sinopec refinery compound in Maoming, in Guandong province, and is expected to be completed by 2020. The Italian company has also announced that the EST plant will refine 46,000 barrels a day, and replace the existing facility for producing petroleum coke. The process includes environmental assets and fits perfectly with Beijing's environmental protection policy. Eni will offer Sinopec technical training, operational procedures services and assistance during the project's initial and development phases. Sinopec will work on the detailed design and construction of the plant.
