INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 6, 2015) -The Indiana Soybean Alliance board of directors elected a new officer team for the 2015 year to help direct checkoff programs that drive the success of the soybean industry within the state. David Lowe was re-elected as the ISA president.

"I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of Indiana soybean farmers to move our industry forward over the next year," said Lowe, a farmer from Dunkirk, Ind. "It is important for us to engage consumers - and farmers - in a conversation about the exciting opportunities soybeans - and ultimately agriculture - brings to all of us."

Other members elected to the executive committee include: Don Wyss of Ossian as vice president; Tom Griffiths of Kendallville as secretary; Shelley McDaniel of Boonville as treasurer; Matt Chapman of Springport as demand committee chairman; Joe Tuholski of Mill Creek as supply committee chairman; Jeanette Merritt of Peru as organizational services committee chairman; and, Josh Kirkpatrick of Veedersburg as membership and policy committee chairman.

ISA works on behalf of nearly 28,000 soybean farmers in Indiana who contribute to the soybean checkoff. The ISA Board of Directors is responsible for the investment of those checkoff funds. Under its three-year strategic plan, the ISA identified six major areas, including grain marketing, livestock, new uses, production and environmental research, aquaculture, and biofuels.

"The ISA board approved projects for 2015 that focus on finding new markets for our soybeans here in Indiana through the expansion of the livestock industry and new uses area," said Lowe. "We are also looking forward to unveiling a new risk management programs for farmers this winter through a collaboration with Purdue's Center for Commercial Agriculture."
