In September 2012, compared to January 2007, the consumer price index for bread rose by 22.1% and that for pasta by 36,6%. In the same period the whole nation CPI (see Italian NIC) rose by 14%.

For bread supply chain, prices of agricultural products for wheat showed a maximum increase in February 2011 (+67.3% compared to January 2007). A similar trend was registered by unit value indices in imports, which hit the maximum value in April 2008 (+62.7% compared to January 2007).

In July 2012 the industrial producer prices of flour were +40.1% compared to January 2007.

The industrial producer prices for bread had a light and steady growth since early 2008. July 2012 prices increased by 14.4% compared to January 2007.

The trend in consumer prices of bread shows a slight but steady increase and does not seem affected by the strong fluctuations in commodity prices.
