Hounslow Council is making sure it is doing everything possible to be a 'cleaner, greener' borough when it comes to low emissions in bus zones.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, recently announced plans for 10 further low emission bus zones across the capital, which he should consider extending between Chiswick High Road to Hammersmith Broadway / Kensington.

The Council has already implemented several initiatives with improvements to road layouts and implementing enhanced traffic signals known as SCOOT systems.

Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, said: 'The Council's air quality action planning to date, has managed to reduce nitrogen dioxide concentration levels by 35.1%, between 2006 and 2016 but we're not stopping here. We are committed to improving air quality and public health for all our residents and will do all we can to look at ways in which this can happen.'

'We want to make sure that Chiswick high Road is also compliant with the levels acceptable for air quality and we welcome the plans to include it in the Mayor of London's further low emission bus zones.

'We are committed to improving air quality and public health for all our residents and will do all we can to look at ways in which this can happen.'
