DULUTH, Ga., Jan. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia United announces the return of its annual High School Scholarship Competition. This program is open to high school seniors preparing to go to college or technical school during the 2018-2019 school year. In the program's over 20 years, Georgia United has awarded nearly $200,000 in scholarships to studious and community involved students.

$27,500 in scholarships will be awarded in four scholarship opportunities for the best creative video answering this year's entry question, "Georgia United was founded on the principles of supporting the community through education. How are you going to use your education to help your community?"

  • The Vernon E. Carne Scholarship for $10,000      
  • The Geraldine Tilson Scholarship for $7,500
  • The Polly Hinde Scholarship for $5,000
  • The Dorothy Dusenberry Scholarship for $5,000

As a credit union founded by Dekalb County School educators, Georgia United is proud to continue to offer financial support to young members planning to continue their education after high school this fall. Named for the credit union's founder and notable board members, this program offers scholarship money through a creative video contest. Students are required to include a copy of their high school transcript and must be members of Georgia United Credit Union. Other considerations include financial need, scholastic standing, special achievements and demonstrated leadership.
