Central Queensland growers and advisers keen to learn more about integrated weed management (IWM) of hard to control weeds are invited to a series of workshops this week.

Organised as part of the Central Queensland Grower Solutions project with funding from the Grains Research Development Corporation (GRDC) the workshops will provide an opportunity to troubleshoot weed management issues with industry experts (ICAN) and Paul McIntosh (Pulse Australia/AHRI).

Topics on the agenda include:

  • how to better use residual and knockdown herbicides to manage hard to control weeds
  • how and when should tillage be used to maximise impact
  • how to effectively integrate herbicide
  • non-herbicide control strategies to achieve lasting weed control.
The IWM workshops will be held tomorrow (January 31) at the Capella Cultural Centre, Cappella from 8.30am-11.30am; and at Gindie Tennis Club, Gindie from 3pm. Workshops will also be held at Theodore on Wednesday (February 1) at the Theodore Hotel from 3pm; and Thursday (February 2) at the DAF Biloela Conference Room, Biloela from 8am-11.30am.
