France hired banks for the syndicated launch of a new 30-year government bond, or OAT, with maturity in May 2053, the French Treasury Agency said Monday.

The syndicated transaction is expected to be launched via syndication in the following days, subject to market conditions.

The French Treasury Agency indicated in its annual funding plan in December that it would consider such an issue in the second half of the year. Rates strategists have widely anticipated the issue for this week.

The banks hired for the issue are Barclays, BNP Paribas, BofA Securities, Credit Agricole CIB and Nomura.
