Eversheds Sutherland significantly expands its tax law offering with two new members joining the team: Jens Binding, who will lead the investment tax law practice group in Germany as of 1 January 2022, and Dr. Lars Haverkamp, who will be responsible for transfer pricing. Lars will take the lead in setting up the transfer pricing consulting service in Europe.

Lars Haverkamp, certified specialist for tax law, has been advising renowned German and international groups as well as companies from the financial sector in the areas of transfer pricing, corporate tax law and international tax law for more than ten years. His focus is on providing strategic and forensic advice to multinational companies in contentious administrative and redress proceedings. Lars is deemed one of the leading experts in structuring and defending transfer pricing systems. Lars' arrival will enable Eversheds Sutherland to widen its transfer pricing capability beyond Germany into other jurisdictions and strengthen the global law firm's international cooperation.

Jens Binding, lawyer and tax advisor, has many years of experience in the area of financial service tax and is very well connected in the market. His focus is on the structuring of fund vehicles and complex financial instruments. Most recently, Jens assisted Credit Suisse in the implementation of international tax projects. In particular, Jens will contribute his valuable in-house experience to advising institutional investors, banks, insurance companies and corporations in the future.

"We are very happy that with Lars and Jens we have been able to attract two proven experts with many years of professional experience to our tax law team," explains Dr. Simon Weppner, head of the tax law practice of Everheds Sutherland in Germany and Europe. "Lars' arrival will strengthen our team with a recognised specialist in the increasingly important area of international tax law and transfer pricing. We are particularly pleased that he comes to us with a well-established team and is thus immediately ready for action. Jens in turn strengthens our consulting services for institutional investors. In addition, his cross-sector in-house perspective enables us to tailor our advice on international financial service tax projects even more precisely to the needs of our clients. With both additions, we will be able to further develop the successful work of our practice group and expand our range of consulting services, in particular for internationally operating companies."

"The global orientation of Eversheds Sutherland and especially the focus on tax consulting for multinational corporations fits perfectly with my area of specialism. I am very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues in Germany, Europe and around the world", says Lars. "At Eversheds Sutherland, the signs are pointing to growth and the general conditions for further expansion of the business in tax law are excellent. This is not only due to the international expertise of the team, but also due to the integrated advisory approach of the law practice."

Jens adds: "The international cooperation within Eversheds Sutherland across all areas of law is unique and precisely tailored to the mostly supranational regulatory requirements of our clients. The agile management culture ensures that we can identify current trends at an early stage and offer ideal solutions."

Eversheds Sutherland's European tax law practice advises on all national and international tax matters. The services include the development of tax structures, structuring advice and implementation, tax compliance and enforcement advice. Headed by Simon Weppner (Dusseldorf), the members work closely together with the law practice's other practice groups.
