How should Asia-Pacific respond to growth challenges/opportunities in 2015?

Despite a fairly positive outlook in 2015, economic growth prospects of developing Asia-Pacific countries remain challenged by domestic structural constraints and the global economic environment.

Structural reforms in some large economies in the region are boosting growth prospects while lower oil prices are an opportunity to address chronic development deficits.

Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCAP Executive Secretary will launch the annual update to the ESCAP flagship publication, Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2014 on 13 January 2015, addressing these issues.

The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific has been monitoring regional progress, providing cutting-edge analyses and guiding policy discussion on the current and emerging socioeconomic issues and policy challenges to support inclusive and sustainable development in the region since 1947.
