Tuesday, January 10, 2017

Natural gas customers in Mount Pleasant Borough and Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, will soon benefit from Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania's $1.7 Million infrastructure replacement project, starting mid-January.

To ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient natural gas, approximately 7,500 feet of underground pipe will be replaced along State Route 31 (Main Street), Morewood Street, Braddock Avenue, Eagle Street, Hurst Alley, Smithfield Street, Vines Street, Church Street, BB Alley, College Avenue, Diamond Street, Center Street, Depot Street, and Bridgeport Street. Construction will occur between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is expected to last through early 2017, weather permitting.

Approximately 130 customers will experience a temporary service interruption. Columbia Gas will personally contact these customers to schedule service restoration. Customers with indoor meters will have their meters relocated to the outside of the premises and their service lines replaced as well. This work will be done at no additional cost to the customer.

All company and contract employees carryphoto ID badges identifying them as Columbia Gas employees or contractors. Customers are encouraged to ask for ID before allowing anyone into their home or they can call 1-888-460-4332 for Columbia Gas employee verification.

From 2007 - 2016, Columbia Gas invested nearly $1.35 billion in the modernization and expansion of its distribution system in Pennsylvania. Of that amount, approximately $1 billion was dedicated to replacing 826 miles of priority pipe. In 2017, Columbia Gas will invest approximately $260 million in Pennsylvania, with more than $200 million being invested to upgrade aging underground infrastructure.
