NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 4, 2016) - Dr. Joan C. Wojak, MD, FACR, FSIR, FAHA is a highly regarded Diagnostic Radiologist and Diagnostic Interventional Neuroradiologist. She is the past president of the Acadiana Radiology Group, which covers six hospitals in Lafayette, Louisiana and surrounding areas.

Dr. Wojak attended Princeton University, earning her A.B. Degree in Chemistry and after graduation went on to attend New York University School of Medicine from 1979 to 1983, completing her Medical Degree, internship and residency at NYU Langone Medical Center. She also completed a radiology residency and a fellowship in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Wojak is Board Certified in Radiology and has a subspecialty certification in Neuroradiology.

Dr. Wojak has been practicing medicine and offering outstanding radiological services for almost 20 years. She maintains affiliations with six regional hospitals serving the area, including Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, the Regional Medical Center of Acadiana (now Lafayette General Medical Center Southwest), Abbeville General Hospital, the Heart Hospital of Lafayette and University Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Wojak's specialized areas of expertise are: angiography, balloon angioplasty and stenting, aneurysm coiling, vertebral augmentation. The diseases she treats include carotid artery disease, intracranial arteriosclerosis, spinal fractures, cerebral aneurysms and stroke. Dr. Wojak is the past Medical Director of Radiology at both Our Lady of Lourdes and at Heart Hospital of Lafayette and the current Medical Director of radiology at Abbeville General Hospital. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine.

In addition to the previously mentioned papers, she has co-authored a textbook and has been published 35 times in other journals related to the field. Dr. Joan Wojak's research interests include treatment of stroke and intracranial arteriosclerosis disease; subjects on which she has written several times.

Recognized by several prestigious medical affiliations, she has recently been selected by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals (IAHCP) to be featured in the premiere publication of the "Leading Physicians of the World". She is also a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, a Fellow of the American Heart Association Stroke Council (FAHA), a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR), a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, and a senior member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery.

Dr. Wojak is a member of the American College of Radiology, ASNR, ASSR, Radiological Society of North America, ARRS, SNIS, SIR, AHA/ASA, and the AANS/CNS Cerebrovascular Section.

When not practicing medicine or teaching, Dr. Joan Wojak enjoys stamp collecting and reading science fiction. A breeder of thoroughbred horses and a competitive rider of hunter/jumpers, Dr. Wojak also donates her time as the Executive Director of a therapeutic riding program.
