Average Residential Bill to be Under $100

The New Year will ring in significantly lower natural gas prices for Columbia Gas of Ohio customers. And, in addition to lower residential bills, customers are receiving added value as part of their monthly payment.

This month, the average residential natural gas bill is projected to be $98.73, a decrease of $27.87 from the average bill of $126.60 in January 2015. The lower bill is thanks, in part, to a lower Standard Choice Offer (SCO) price in January 2016 than in January 2015 - 37 cents per Ccf compared to 46 cents.

Overall, residential customer bills in January 2016 are nearly 40 percent below the average customer bill in 2008, and this month's prices are the lowest January prices since customers paid about 30 cents per Ccf (100 cubic feet) in January 1996. This month, customers are paying approximately 37 cents per Ccf through the SCO.

Columbia Gas of Ohio customers are receiving much more than lower prices this month. Compared to a decade ago, customer's bills now reflect the fixed delivery charges. With the implementation of the Accelerated Gas Mains Replacement Program (AMRP), customers are benefitting from safer, more reliable service. Finally, customer bills reflect actual bill readings each month with the elimination of the bi-monthly estimated bill.
Customers wishing to save even more can take advantage of the company's energy efficiency programs. Generous rebates are available on setback thermostats and efficient showerheads; customers can order on the web, over the phone or mail in a rebate form. The company also offers comprehensive home energy audits and rebates on recommended improvements such as insulation and air sealing. Complete information is available at ColumbiaGasOhio.com.
