On Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, Peachtree Corners resident Scott Hilton, was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives. Hilton represents the citizens of District 95, which includes Peachtree Corners as well as portions of Gwinnett and Fulton counties.

Monday was also the first day of the 2017 Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.

'One of the greatest gifts I could ever receive is the opportunity to be a voice for our community,' said Rep. Hilton in a release issued by the Georgia House of Representatives. 'It is truly humbling to be given such a responsibility, and I am thrilled to begin working hard on behalf of the citizens of this state.'

Hilton was elected November 2016 to replace Tom Rice who represented District 95 for over 20 years. Rice had announced last February that he would not seek re-election and would retire from serving in the Georgia General Assembly at the end the year when his term expired.

In addition to being officially sworn in, Hilton was named to serve on the Education; Health & Human Services and Intragovernmental Coordination committees.
