Catapult Systems, a national Microsoft-focused IT consulting company, has deployed the Netsocket Virtual Network (NVN) in its data center to enable the managed service provider to turn on their new remote offices with full virtual networking functionality at a fraction of the time and cost of its previous hardware-based networking components.

As a Microsoft National Systems Integrator (NSI) providing full range IT services, Catapult has been experiencing rapid growth and expansion. The company, always exploring innovative solutions for their customers, investigated virtualized networking offerings on the market today and discovered that the Netsocket Virtual Network solution could provide Catapult a new cost-effective and easy to deploy network solution for their own new remote offices. Launched using standard off-the-shelf x86 servers at the centralized data center and the remote site, NVN was installed in less than an hour and resulted in a secure mesh VPN tunnel network between the new remote site and headquarters. The new remote site can now access corporate resources easily and securely with no "truck rolls" required for installation or future management. Additionally, Catapult's IT department has the flexibility to easily deploy additional services or applications to the remote site x86 server which is hosting the NVN.

Netsocket Virtual Network is a flexible, low-cost, centrally managed virtual network optimized for enterprise LAN and WAN edge network deployments. Deployed on commodity x86 servers, NVN significantly reduces lifecycle CAPEX/OPEX beyond that of traditional site-by-site-managed networking solutions. Its switching and routing components are automatically deployed and provisioned to each remote office using the centralized, intuitive, network management application, vNetCommander. "Utilizing the NVN web-based GUI, I've been able to make adds and changes to the network within mere minutes," said Joe Stocker, IT Director for Catapult.

"SDN solutions on the market today have primarily been focused on virtualizing network functionality within the data center and the metropolitan area network (MAN) - not the local area networks (LANs) and edge networking environments of enterprises and small to medium-sized businesses," commented Fletcher Hamilton, president and CEO of Netsocket. "NVN provides managed service providers with an extremely low risk and low cost path to try virtualized networking and prove-in the benefits for their business customers."
