Noman Özcan visits his pomegranate bushes every day to check on the deep red organic fruits. He's manager of the pomegranate valley in Kozan, a rural region in eastern Turkey. Here, the landscape is dominated by unspoiled nature, hills and aquamarine lakes. And the pomegranate bushes on the Göknur plantation. This is where organic pomegranates are harvested for Biotta Pomegranate juice. Lavished with care and attention, these red fruits are allowed to take their time to ripen. In order to preserve the aroma of this sun-kissed fruit, the pomegranates are gently pressed on location. 'We consider it very important to process the fruit immediately in Turkey. This is the only way to ensure the characteristic pomegranate flavour is preserved', explains Clemens Rüttimann, managing director of Biotta.

Back in the Biotta factory in Tägerwilen by Lake Constance, the finishing touches are then put to the juice - by adding organic white tea, organic aronia juice, organic pear puree and a little organic agave syrup. It's this combination of ingredients which gives the Biotta juice its special taste. Which has now delighted juice lovers in Switzerland and around the world for almost ten years. The juice can be used in a variety of ways, and is guaranteed to please - whether drunk pure, in cocktails, or as the finishing touch to a special dish.

Pomegranates...

The pomegranate - known in early English as the 'apple of Grenada' - was traditionally the fruit of the goddess Aphrodite, and hence a symbol of beauty and fertility. Pomegranate shrubs can grow up to seven metres high and over a hundred years old. The deep red fruits are prized not only for their taste, but also for the valuable secondary plant substances they contain. The pomegranate was a prized fruit in antiquity, and with good reason. It would be hard to imagine life without this special fruit!
