The restaurants and coffee shops committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) headed by Mr. Ahmed Al Saloom has recently held a joint meeting with members of the Old Markets Committee in Bait Al Tijjar. The meeting probed the prospect of opening traditional coffee shops and restaurants in Manama Souq in attracting tourists and reviving the market. The meeting also discussed a number of proposals including creating a database of restaurants and coffee shops in Bahrain and making it available for the consumers, launching a local-themed food festival similar to 'Taste of London', and having Manama Souq categorized as a heritage-tourism site. Concluding the meeting, the committee discussed its plans for the forthcoming period and its intention of holding a workshop.
