Avere Systems, a leading provider of enterprise storage for cloud enabled data centers, today announced the company experienced substantial growth and momentum in 2013 in the key areas of bookings, customer acquisition and product innovation. The explosion in the scale, complexity and cost of data in the enterprise combined with the adoption of cloud solutions has left organizations grappling with how to build and grow their storage infrastructure. Avere's significant advancements in storage solutions last year removed the barriers for companies leveraging data storage in the cloud as well as on-premises data centers, without compromising performance, availability or security.

"The success of the company this past year is a direct result of the remarkable work our team provides - day in and day out - to our diverse customer base," said Ron Bianchini, CEO of Avere Systems. "Our customers are faced with the challenge of storing massive amounts of critical data and want to be able to access it in the most efficient way possible without sacrificing performance, regardless of whether the data is on premises and/or in the cloud. We are solving significant problems for our customers everyday - by providing the flexibility that legacy storage vendors can't."

Impressive Achievements in Sales and Customer Acquisition

Avere achieved record bookings growth in 2013 - 100 percent year-over-year growth in the second half of 2013 and more than 150% percent year-over-year growth in Q4 2013 - of its solutions to help customers improve the efficiency and performance of their storage infrastructure. With this growth, the company has further strengthened its customer base.

Avere Raises Bar in Storage Innovation with First Of-Its-Kind Hybrid Storage Appliance and Storage Solution for the Cloud Era

Much of the success in Avere's growth can be attributed to the company's notable product innovations in 2013. With the Avere FXT 3800, the company introduced an industry-first in the development of the next generation of storage. This hybrid Edge filer, containing both Flash/Solid State Drive (SSD) media and Serial Attached SCSI hard drives (SAS HDD), provides customers with the major performance and cost benefits of a hybrid approach that can match all four media tiers of storage to the data being accessed with a high degree of accuracy.

With the recent release of Avere Cloud NAS, Avere is enabling enterprises to finally leverage the potential of cloud storage by removing adoption roadblocks, particularly fears about unreliable performance due to high latency and data availability. Avere Cloud NAS provides a purpose-built solution that ensures customers' existing on-premises storage systems are tightly integrated with cloud storage, removing the risk of sacrificing performance, availability or security of their data. Also noteworthy was the introduction of Avere FlashCloud software, integrating legacy Network Attached Storage (NAS) with Amazon S3 and Glacier services into a single global namespace (GNS) that presents a unified view of all files via familiar NAS protocols.

The FXT 3800 also achieved record SPECsfs2008 NFS results, continuing Avere's history of beating out solutions from EMC and NetApp, and further demonstrating how Avere's edge-core architecture delivers unparalleled application performance to any NAS environment - at a fraction of the cost of those legacy incumbents.

New Executive Talent Supports Innovation and Growth

The addition of several key executive team members contributed to Avere's sales achievements and storage product leadership in 2013. With the appointment of Michael McMahon as vice president of sales and business development, Avere greatly enhanced its sales team and capitalized on McMahon's experience growing revenues and strategic partnerships for international software companies.

The addition of former HP Executive Dave Stephenson as vice president of engineering has been a driving factor in product development and innovation. Stephenson's deep background and expertise in data storage product development has enabled Avere to further build upon the company's groundbreaking edge-core storage architecture.
