At its January 23 meeting, the Akron Public Schools Board of Education voted to partner with Akron Community Foundation to grow and manage its scholarship fund bearing the name of Judith Resnik. The nearly $200,000 Judith A. Resnik Memorial Scholarship Fund will be managed by the foundation; and a scholarship committee will be nominated to review scholarship applications for students pursuing mathematics, science or allied fields. The fund was slow in growing partially due to its inability to accept donations, which can now grow through fundraising and long-term investment management.
