NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 19, 2016) -  Adorama, one of the world's largest photography, video and audio, imaging and electronics retailers, recently published a tribute to the British stage and screen actor Alan Rickman in Adorama Learning Center (ALC). Rickman passed away on January 14 from cancer, aged 69.

Adorama's Eric Cohen lists some of Rickman's most memorable performances, complete with GIFs and screenshots. While most widely remembered for his role as the enigmatic Severus Snape in the "Harry Potter" franchise, Rickman is also known for playing cold-blooded villains and romantic leads.

Notable mentions in Cohen's list include Rickman's portrayal of villain Hans Gruber in the film "Die Hard" (1988); ghostly lover Jamie in "Truly, Madly, Deeply" (1991); comedic Alexander Dane/Dr. Lazarus in "Galaxy Quest" (1999); and dashing Colonel Brandon in "Sense and Sensibility" (1995). Aside from his considerable talent and charisma, Rickman is also popular for his versatility -- tackling comedic, romantic, and dramatic roles with equal success.

Born in London in 1946 to a working class family, Rickman was classically trained and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. His big break came when he was cast as Vicomte de Valmont in the stage production of "Dangerous Liaisons."

Following Rickman's death, numerous tributes have poured in from his colleagues -- including Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson, J.K. Rowling, and Daniel Radcliffe. "People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played, so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner (or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass," Radcliffe writes on his Google+ page.
