Pathway Healthcare (www.pathwayhealthcare.com), a leading provider of office-based medical and behavioral treatment for drug and alcohol addiction and dependency, is pleased to announce the hiring of government relations specialist, Paul Trivette, as Director of Government Affairs. Paul will work to advocate for increased access to adequate, evidence-based addiction treatment in states where Pathway has a presence, including: Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Tennessee, with plans to expand in 2019.

With impressive experience in advocacy, lobbying and government relations work in the healthcare sector, Paul joins the Pathway team after having founded the Tennessee Recovery Coalition in 2016, which is dedicated to educating the Tennessee community about the disease of addiction. Paul currently serves as the Executive Director on the coalition’s board. Prior to that role, Paul operated the political action committee Patient Access to Addiction Treatment, which lobbies lawmakers in support of medication-assisted addiction treatment. Paul began his career as a police officer at the Bristol, TN Police Department, where he was employed for five years.

“The addition of Paul to the Pathway team is representative of our continued growth and commitment to increasing access to effective addiction treatment and care across the country,” said Scott Olson, CEO of Pathway Healthcare. “We are confident that Paul will bring a unique expertise and passion to the team, always advocating for the best interests of those facing addiction.”

Paul’s dedication to fighting for medication-based addiction treatment stems from watching his father battle the disease. In addition to witnessing the devastating effects of his father’s struggle, Paul also saw the impact of addiction while working in law enforcement. When Paul received the news of his father’s death by overdose, he decided to get involved with education and advocacy work to inspire change. Moving on from the police department allowed Paul to completely immerse himself in fighting for the standardization of evidence-based addiction treatment.

“I joined Pathway because the company is truly at the forefront of combining medical and behavioral treatment to help those suffering from the disease of addiction,” said Paul. “I’m grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference in addiction-led lives, destigmatizing the disease and increasing access to effective care for all. I intend to help prevent others from losing loved ones to this disease in the same way I did.”

Paul received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Penn State University. He currently lives in Tennessee with his wife and three children.
