Washington, D.C. - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) today announced the appointment of Raphael Goodstein as director of tax and trade policy.

Goodstein has 15 years of Congressional and government affairs experience, including 10 years representing the common policy interests of the domestic auto industry as legislative director with the American Automotive Policy Council (AAPC). He has also worked on Capitol Hill, for Senator Debbie Stabenow, and for a number of political and public affairs organizations.

'Raphy's government affairs experience, including his advocacy with Congress and the Executive Branch on issues that are key for the steel industry and our customers -- like tax and trade -- make him an outstanding addition to the AISI team,' said Thomas J. Gibson, president and CEO of AISI. 'He has a proven track record working successfully on behalf of manufacturing industries, and we are fortunate he is joining us here at AISI to continue advancing our strategic goals.'

Goodstein received his Masters in Government from Johns Hopkins University in 2006, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 2002. He began work at AISI on January 3.
