WASHINGTON (January 29, 2020) - The following statement may be attributed to American Chemistry Council (ACC) President and CEO, Chris Jahn, in response to President Trump signing the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) at a White House ceremony today:

'ACC and its members welcome President Trump's historic signing of USMCA. The President's signature completes our country's steady, bipartisan march toward ratifying a trade agreement that can benefit all Americans. The allied North American chemical industry is ready to leverage USMCA to reduce our manufacturing costs, boost our exports, and stimulate new growth and job-creation throughout the region.

'ACC looks forward to supporting the U.S. Administration as all three trading partners prepare to enter the USMCA into force and meet the necessary obligations outlined in the agreement. With Mexico having already passed the revised agreement, we urge our counterparts in Canada to build on today's momentum and move to ratify the agreement in their country as soon as possible.'
