In 1996, Dr. Jacob accepted the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Ohio State University, College of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Jacob has been the Editor of four journals in the area of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology and is currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Gene Expression.
He has also served on two NIH study sections and one advisory panel of National Cancer Institute.
He was also on two advisory boards.
He has published 170 papers in well-established journals.
Dr. Jacob obtained his Ph.D.
in Biochemistry in 1958 and received his Postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine & Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1969, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Physiological Chemistry at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In 1976, he joined the Department of Pharmacology, The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine as an Associate Professor and promoted to the rank of Full Professor in 1976.
During 1975-1980 he was the Program Director for Chemical Carcinogenesis, Specialized Cancer Research Center, The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.
He was a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Norwegian Cancer Research Center, Oslo, Department of Biochemistry, University of Bergen, Norway, and the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, India.
In 1989, he was appointed Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Molecular Biology at The Chicago Medical School, where he was also Director of the Molecular and Cellular Science Program.
