Nancy A. Thomas

Thomas, former Dallas County Civil District Judge, joined First Southwest in early 2007 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the firm.
Judge Thomas most recently served as presiding Judge of the 160th Civil District Court.
During her tenure in that position, Judge Thomas presided over a wide variety of cases encompassing all aspects of civil litigation.
In addition to her most recent service to the bench, Judge Thomas served as an Associate Judge in 2003 and 2004 for the 13 Dallas County Civil District Courts.
In that capacity, Judge Thomas heard a wide variety of civil matters.
Prior to being named to the judiciary, Judge Thomas worked in both private legal practice and as a corporate attorney for several high-profile companies.
As in-house counsel, Judge Thomas served as a corporate attorney for Computer Language Research, Inc./Fast Tax and as division counsel for National Gypsum Company.
In both positions, Judge Thomas monitored litigation and directed the activity of outside counsel, prepared and reviewed legal documents, and provided day-to-day counseling on general legal matters.
Judge Thomas’ private law practice included general corporate, employment, and trial and mediation work, including service as an arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association Commercial Panel, and with such well respected firms as Gray & Thomas PLLC; Winstead, McGuire, Sechrest & Minick; and Seay, Gwinn, Crawford, Mebus & Blakeney.
While working for those firms, Judge Thomas handled an extensive trial practice in all areas of civil litigation.
