Mr. Smith joined Avatar Associates in December 2009.
He began his career in asset management with Trust Company of the West and led sales for TCW spin-off GuidedChoice, an on-line investment advice tool under the direction of Nobel Laureate Harry Markowitz.
Most recently, Michael was responsible for the design & distribution of $900mm in ETF and UIT products, including TD Ameritrade's lifecycle ETFs at Zacks Investment Research.
Mr. Smith holds a BA from the UCLA, studied international law at the London School of Economics, and received an MBA in international finance from the University of Notre Dame.
