Wigan Metropolitan Development Company (Investment) Ltd. was founded in 1984 by Wigan Borough Council as part of an industrial strategy aimed at regenerating and revitalizing a borough then in the grip of deep recession. The British company offers rented office space, workshops, and industrial units in the heart of Wigan, UK. The original ethos of WMDC is to support start-up businesses, whilst offering a pathway to grow in size whilst remaining in the borough with a fair landlord and high-quality units and office accommodation. The private company aims to support the economic regeneration of the borough, which suffered industrial closures, falling demand, and increasing redundancy.
