Mr. Gillespie joined Rydex in 1997 as the portfolio manager of the Precious Metals Fund and its Rydex Variable Trust counterpart.
He was named senior portfolio manager in July 1998.
He played an instrumental role in the development of the Rydex sector funds, which were rolled out during the second and third quarters of 1998.
He currently is the group leader for the Rydex Money Market, Medius, Health Care, Biotechnology, Real Estate, Precious Metals, Energy, Energy Services, Basic Materials, Utilities, Transportation, U.S.
Government Bond and Juno Funds.
He is also a member of Rydex's investment strategy committee.
Prior to joining Rydex, Mr. Gillespie was a portfolio manager at GIT Investment Funds and at the Rushmore Funds.
He also worked as an account executive at Wheat First Securities and at Salomon Smith Barney.
His areas of expertise include industry sectors, fixed income, and macro-economic trends.
He has been quoted extensively in the business press, including The Wall Street Journal and Mutual Fund Magazine-and has appeared on CNBC.
He earned his MBA from Averette College in Virginia and his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Maryland.
