Prior to joining Westover in October 2009, Mr. Sawyer began his career in San Francisco at brokerage firm Charles Schwab, and then moved to Jurika & Voyles, an 8 billion investment management firm in Oakland, CA.
At Jurika & Voyles, he managed client relationships in addition to performing equity research for the firm small cap growth fund.
In 2003, while pursuing his M.B.A.
at American University Kogod School of Business, Mr. Sawyer worked for one of the premier global private equity firms in the world, The Carlyle Group.
As an intern, he assisted in the formation of a new hedge fund product and developed performance templates.
During his final semester in business school and thereafter, he worked for Riggs Bank in Washington DC.
The bank was formed in 1836 and financed Samuel Morse invention of the telegraph, the Mexican-American War, and the Alaska Purchase.
Contango Capital Advisors, a subsidiary of Zions Bancorporation in Utah, hired Mr. Sawyer to establish their Colorado investment advisory practice.
Within 16 months, Contango Denver office (with Mr. Sawyer as the only employee covering the entire state of Colorado) had become the best performing office within Contango.
From March 2007 to April 2009, he increased Contango assets under management every quarter, even during the market downturn in the fourth quarter of 2008.
In September 2009, he was honored in "5280," a Denver lifestyle magazine, as one of that area Best Personal Wealth Managers.
Mr. Sawyer graduated from Dickinson College in 1997 and earned his MBA form American University Kogod School of Business.
